Job Description Summary

To provide technical support, regular maintenance, recovery and overall technical responsibility to the Cisco voice, data network and wireless platforms across the Global infrastructure. This position will also fulfill the role of lead engineer on various projects across the region from a network perspective.
Additional responsibilities to provide technical guidance and deployment where appropriate.

Job Description


  • Management and maintenance of all Cisco Switch, Router and Wireless infrastructure in across the region
  • Management of all WAN infrastructure across the region liaising with external third party suppliers
  • Management of all Palo Alto Firewall infrastructure across the region liaising with external third party suppliers
  • Overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of the network element in Data Rooms
  • To provide support and ensure the availability of the Network within agreed service level targets
  • Management and maintenance of the Cisco Unified Communications suite of products and infrastructure
  • Follow ITIL and Service Management Processes such as Incident, Problem and Change management processes
  • Able to collaborate with the Global Network team
  • General Network Operations Management

  • To assist the Global Network team with designing, planning and implementing a Network that meets the company's requirements in terms of performance and cost, in line with overall IT strategy
  • To identify, analyze and propose resolutions to "Known Errors" of the network as part of proactive problem management
  • To ensure the North America data network's performance, integrity, availability and security is never compromised
  • Ensure that the network equipment and cabling in Data Centers is maintained to acceptable levels
  • Requirements

    • In depth knowledge of Cisco Wired and Wireless Network Infrastructure in branch offices and datacenters
    • A good understanding of Cisco Layer 3 routing, particularly EIGRP and OSPF protocols
    • In depth knowledge of Palo Alto firewall infrastructure
    • Experience of deploying network monitoring tools and fine tuning alerting and reporting. Hands on experience with Solarwinds is advantageous
    • Demonstrable experience of working for a large enterprise, familiarity with IT frameworks such as ITIL. An understanding of the advantage for Change and Incident Management processes to the organization
    • Experience of working with Cisco Nexus Data Center Switching, routing technologies and integration to VMware and Microsoft Virtualization Platforms
    • Experience developing and managing firewall infrastructure, particularly PaloAlto and Cisco ASA
    • Experience with SDN or SD-WAN related technologies would be desirable
    • Experience with Load Balancing / F5
    • Some exposure to Cisco Unified Communications Systems and Skype for Business

    Person Specification

  • Cisco CCNA
  • Cisco CCNP – Advantageous
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolving complex problems
  • Ability to think logically and analyze technical information
  • Ability to work as a member of a globally distributed team
  • Ability to pass on knowledge to other members of the team and share knowledge accordingly to peers
  • To question the norm, and present new solutions where possible to ensure further development of the environment to become more efficient and stable
  • Proactive and efficient approach to system reliability
  • Desirable

    • Security Certifications would be favorable
    • Working knowledge of security standards including ISO27000
    • Strong practical working knowledge of deployed firewalls and the rationale for authorizing firewall rule set changes relating to secure / insecure configurations
